ROSE DAILY DOSE - 1.18.2019 DINNER AND A NIGHT AT THE SYMPHONY

Dinner at Zoko 822

Dinner at Zoko 822

On Friday night, I was invited to dinner and the symphony. Once again, my month of “hibernation” was foiled. Dinner at Zoko 822 (one of my favorite new restaurants in Grand Rapids) and a little culture? SOLD. You don’t have to ask me twice. Just last month Jack and Kat treated me to dinner at Zoko 822 and I fell in love. Great atmosphere, drinks and delicous, creative and interesting food are what you will find at this Westside hotspot. This second visit had me enjoing the four course family style dinner with a group of new and old friends. The fish course (pictured) was perfect.

Thanks to our sommelier friend, Ken, we once again enjoyed a great selection of wine that complemented all the delicious food. This particular wine was crazy good. Unfortunately, by the time the bottle made it to the end of the table, where I sat, there was not much left. Note to self, next time sit NEXT to Ken. :)

Our eclectic party consisted of folks from Australia, India, and Brazil. Interesting conversation, great food and wine. #winning!

Wonderful seats..

We had to leave before our dessert course, as we were running late for the 8:00 start time of the Grand Rapids Symphony. My friend Rebecca set us up with the tickets and I was thrilled to be seated just a few rows back from the stage. It was thrilling to sit so close that you could see the expressions on the faces of the musicians.

The performance we saw was called Rhythm of the Dance and it incorporated beautiful Latin American dancing with music. I absolutley loved it. Out of respect to the the perfomers, I did not photograph them performing. I will just tell you it was magic.

After the performance we were invited backstage for a meet and greet and celebratory glass of champagne. The guest performer, the very handsome and talented, Pablo Sain Villegas didn’t stick around long enough for me to embarass myself by asking for a selfie (probably a good thing;:) so instead I decided to leave my mark on his backstage dressing room.

Thanks, Rebecca for inviting me to be your Plus 1! I had a most enjoyable evening!
